Is tag cloud menu on websites good/necessary for seo?

Hello dear,

I have a question about tag cloud menu that you will see it on every websites. i want to know is that good for seo if i add my every post tags down the every post? (for example: simple blogger blogs theme)

The tag option is also included in the wordpress blogging platform and it is one of the popular blogging platform and people prefer to install wordpress cms to their domains. I don't think there is any negative effect of tags. But remember use canonical tags in the page created when we include tags. <link rel=”canonical” href=”http://www.exampleofyoursite.com/tagname” />

 

Also hem1234, it is one the the best (wordpress) for SEO so they must be doing something right!

 

Google bought a startup yesterday that specializes in analyzing tags to improve search results. Tags are good.

 

Tags, have no seo value since they point to 'tag' pages which 'mostly' are marked as 'noindex', however they somewhat do help in building the internal link structure. Apart from the seo view of tags, they are surely important from the visitor point of view.

 

Tag cloud is not necessary for SEO. But this is good if you add tag cloud, It is beneficial for user sometime. Also for Google but it depends on your tag page is do-follow or no-follow.

 

Tag clouds can be helpful for SEO 'indirectly'. Most of the new tags clouds these days are composed of Flash and JavaScript while others have noindex to avoid any duplication of content. It may sound not helpful for SEO BUT it also helps users to have a quick search around your website when they're looking for something that interests them. It can also act like your second navigation through out your website. Ultimately, it can help your website gain more traffic passed onto the inner pages and somewhat lessen the bounce rate of visitors coming in.

In my own experiences, tactical tag cloud links might be help a little for SEO purpose since the contextual links would be the favorite for any search engines.

I agree I dont really think tag clouds have much SEO value at all except for some more extra keywords on your page that google can read. They could help in getting some inner pages indexed quicker maybe. Lastly, they do provide an extra navigational aspect to your site. Personally, I think tag clouds are ugly and distracting.
