Is submitting to directories a must?

Backlink is the main reason, I'm not expecting traffic from directories.

 

Submitting to directories won't really increase your traffic but if the directories have decent PR they can provide good quality back links. As far as your website being a PR 6 I'm also curious how you got that so quickly? What ever you did good job though!

 

Did you notice the only people / members who said "yeah worth it" or "go for it" have directories within their sig's.

In all honesty - if you are getting little traffic as of now it's because your topic is not very popular, try to expand to popular areas and popular areas with little competition. I have had a lot of traffic (500 - 1000 visitors per day) with under 50 search results competing with my site in Google - the popular searches with very little competition are out there .... and guess what - you don't need a high PR or old site to dominate those results - all you need is a little on site SEO.

You can be number one for 1000s of searches - but if no one is searching for the topic - then you will get no traffic.

 

There are many ways to achieve a high PR, but you must have the right tools. Doing all the linking and search manually, it's just a waist of time. I assume that the people who achieve a high PR pretty fast are using some SEO software. Someone who knows might confirm what I'm saying.

Yes directory can give you huge backlinks try the highest pr directory sites.

 

it helps you to increase your backlinks and also boost your traffic but not too much. it is important if that directory has a high traffic too. for example one of my websites gets over 2000 visitors every day from one of directories, where i submitted my links and it cannot be better.

 

not really.. its upto you.. they provide a 1 way backlink to your website

 

I would say since you are searching for traffic and not looking for an increase of PR, I don't think it is necessary for you to submit to directories for it's only good for sites starting off as a few has said before.

There are some directories that generate traffic, all it takes is to research, while some directories are just for backlinks.
