Is starting a blog worth it in 2024?

I feel like every niche has been covered. How do you guys come up with topics to write about?
Google is no longer rooting for the little guys. They only rank big businesses.
If I were to start a blog, what should I be writing about?

You should be writing about something you are knowledgeable about and passionate about. Anything else will be a chore. You'll have to do research and you won't enjoy the process. With so many people on this planet there will be readers for your niche so don't worry about the size of the market.

If a niche is already well catered for think about if you have a unique perspective - there may still be room for you.

If not, then maybe your time and energy are best directed elsewhere.

Yes. Starting a blog in 2024 is worth it. First you need to ask yourself what do you find interesting most. When you have discovered it, then you start writing. It does not matter if others are writing on same topic. You may need to spend some bucks on advertising if you want to make money quickly.

I think it was back in the early 1800's that the head of the U.S. Patent Office declared that there would not be much more need for the office because everything that could be invented had been already been patented. These days, there is something new developing every hour. E.g., my company is moving into creating custom synthetic data to help train machine learning algorithms. Very few blogs about that topic. Look a little harder and with a fresh eye and I am sure you can find an underserved new market. As @sarahk suggests, it will be much better for you if it is something that you are interested in, of course.

Sometimes, writing and revisiting previously trending topics can have a great impact on the visibility of your content.

Starting a blog in 2024 can still be worthwhile, but it comes with new challenges. While it may seem like every niche is covered, your unique voice, perspective, or combination of topics can still stand out. Here are a few points to consider:

    Why Blogging is Still Relevant:
    1. Evergreen Value: Blogs that provide consistent, valuable content tend to generate long-term traffic, especially if they focus on evergreen topics.
    2. Personal Brand: A blog can help build your authority in a niche and showcase your expertise, even if big businesses dominate Google.
    3. Diverse Traffic: You don't have to rely solely on Google—social media, email newsletters, and community engagement can help grow your audience.
    4. SEO Evolution: Google has shifted focus toward helpful, high-quality content that satisfies user intent. A small blog with useful, in-depth articles still has a shot, especially in less-saturated, niche areas.
Overcoming the "Everything's Been Covered" Feeling:
    • Niche Down: Rather than a broad topic, go super specific. For example, instead of "gardening," you could cover "urban vertical gardens for small apartments."
    • Unique Angle: Even if a topic has been covered, you can approach it from a fresh perspective. Your personal experiences, case studies, or local expertise can give it a twist.
    • Create Comprehensive Guides: People still love ultimate guides, how-tos, and checklists that offer deep value. You can bundle knowledge into one-stop resources.
    • Add Personality: Readers may connect with you more than your topic. Injecting your personality, humor, or unique insights can make your blog stand out.
Blog Topics to Consider in 2024:
    1. Personal Experiences: Document your journey in an industry or hobby.
    2. Niche Communities: Focus on communities with passionate audiences (e.g., eco-friendly products, specific software tips).
    3. How-To Guides: Practical and actionable content that solves problems (tech tutorials, lifestyle changes).
    4. Reviews and Comparisons: Unbiased product or service reviews in a specific niche.
    5. Future Trends: Cover emerging trends that might not yet be well-represented (e.g., new technologies, environmental solutions, or business models).
Would you like help brainstorming specific topics related to your areas of interest?

It's never too late to start your blog. Good or interesting topics never goes away.

I would suggest to talk about one of your hobbies. Writing about your ongoing hobby gets interesting for you and your readers ( most likely you will always have something to write about something you are working on.)

Starting a blog in 2024 can still be worth it, depending on your goals, niche, and dedication. Here are some factors to consider:

    1. Niche Opportunities: Certain niches (like personal finance, wellness, sustainability, and technology) continue to grow. Finding a unique angle or underserved audience can increase your chances of success.

    2. Monetization Options: There are various ways to monetize a blog, including affiliate marketing, sponsored posts, selling digital products, and advertising. The potential for profit remains strong if you can attract a dedicated audience.

    3. Content Quality: With AI and content automation becoming more prevalent, high-quality, original content that offers real value will stand out. Focusing on in-depth, well-researched posts can help you build credibility.

    4. SEO and Marketing: Search engine optimization (SEO) tricks remain crucial for visibility. Understanding current SEO trends and employing effective marketing strategies (such as social media sharing and email newsletters) can drive traffic to your blog.

    5. Community and Networking: Blogs can create a sense of community. Engaging with your readers and connecting with other bloggers can enhance your reach and impact.

    6. Time and Commitment: Blogging requires investment in time and effort. Consistency and passion for your chosen topic are essential for long-term success.

    7. Evolving Platforms: The blogging landscape is constantly changing. Consider whether you want to maintain a traditional blog, utilize platforms like Substack, or create multimedia content on platforms like YouTube or podcasts.

    8. Personal Growth: Beyond monetization, blogging can be a valuable tool for personal expression, skill development, and establishing credibility in your field.
In summary, starting a blog in 2024 can be worthwhile, especially if you are passionate about a topic and willing to invest the necessary time and effort to build your audience.

Starting a blog in 2024 can still be profitable depending on your goals. Blogs can also be a great way to share your knowledge, build an audience, and make money through advertising and affiliate marketing. However, there is a lot of competition, so focusing on one niche, creating quality content, and using social media to promote is key to standing out. If you are passionate about something and are willing to put in the time, it can be a rewarding career.

Yes, blogs will continue to work in 2024. In fact, if you are providing relevant and user intent content then surely you will be able to rank higher. But ensure not to post AI-generated content.

I think sarting a blog in 2024 is still absolutely worth it. Here is a Statista article on the most popular blogs in previous year (maybe to get some ideas). Sure, every niche seems covered, but no one has your unique voice, experiences, or perspective. Always worth thinking about and experimenting with blogs and content in general.

Yes, starting a blog in 2024 can be worth it, especially if you focus on a niche that interests you and has an audience. With the right content strategy, SEO practices, and engagement on social media, you can attract readers and potentially monetize your blog through ads, affiliate marketing, or selling products. However, success requires consistent effort and quality content.

Starting a blog in 2024 can still be worth it! Even though there’s a lot out there, finding a unique angle or a niche you’re truly interested in can help you stand out. Google might favor big sites, but quality content and real value can still attract readers.

Plus, you don’t have to rely just on Google—social media, newsletters, and other platforms can help bring in an audience. If you’re excited about a topic, go for it and see where it takes you!

It might seem like all the good niches are taken, but there's always a unique angle or personal perspective that can make your blog stand out. Think about your passions or specific experiences you can share. Even in crowded niches, your unique voice and insights can attract a dedicated audience. Focus on quality content and building a community around your blog. It’s all about finding that sweet spot between what you love and what people are searching for. Good luck!
