I've been writing lenses on Squidoo for about 6 weeks now and have been plugging away at creating the backlinks and come up with ways to generate some traffic. I know that I am impatient and wanted traffic, like yesterday, but I'd like to find out the general consensus about Squidoo, in general. I feel I've invested a lot of time into Squidoo and realize that I won't see money for another few months, but just want to know more about traffic generation and if people have started to move away from this site or not. It seems like I'm always following the curve and am curious if it's in decline or I'm just not experienced enough yet. Thanks for the replies.
yes, same here. i spend much time on squidoo, but seems in vain. no traffic generated like what is saying on the web. i guess it is the method mattering. can any body tell us here the general marketing way with squidoo.
The Good. It can create backlinks. The Bad. I never found that I could generate enough traffic and found it to be a waist of time. Just about all my traffic come from my website lthat ranks well with the major search engines. Good Luck!
I think it depends on the topic you are writing about. If you have a good subject that attracts people will pay for solutions for it, then it is worth it. The challenge is finding that sweet spot. With the holidays coming up, I imagine electronics and toys are good choices to have lenses about. Squidoo and Hubpages are good places to generate some cash, but I also think you have to have quite a few lenses/hubs to make a decent amount of money.
There are the good and bad side of using Squidoo to make money. I will quickly analyze the good and the ugly for you here. Good You don't need any web design skills Free to create your mini site You can get high ranking quickly Bad You don't own this site and anything can happen. Using squidoo for business is like renting a building for business when you have the option of creating a house of your own. owner can make unfavorable change that might not be in your favor. You share you revenue and traffic with squidoo. There are many of them, the above is just a few for you to analyze yourself.
it might be worth the investment, i can't say. But what I can say is that for sure it won't beat having your own sites / blogs, even simples ones, with your content on them. This is where you'll have the best return on investment.
I think it is always better to use these type of sites for the purpose of link building. Any other use of such sites can waste a lot of time for minimal returns. But it all depends on how things turn out. For me squidoo is good link building place.
It will gain a link and can earn you real traffic but it seems like ezine articles would work the same way for that purpose
yes, but if you think like that one will never have a site with authority. You need to start somewhere, make it now instead of in 2 years..
I never have liked squidoo for some reason, and have had better luck with hubpages and ezinearticles. But if you enjoy building lenses, I say keep doing it, but maybe put a highly spun version of your lenses on a different site.
Yeah. I think this is where sites like Squidoo and Hubpages work best. Build a good lens and then generate links to it. Eventually, the page rank and visibility will be good enough to actually help other sites you own.
Squidoo has changed over time, now they require you to pamper the lenses or drive traffic to it, if the lense is idle or dont receive any traffic to it, they dump it and will not appear in search results till the time you update it or drive traffic to it, so it is a waste of time as it is not a build backlink and forget it concept. Of course, if you have the time to pamper the lense then do it as the value of that backlink would be great.
Squidoo Lens are still good for long term traffic, but the problem many have found is that since Panda Squidoo and a lot of Web 2.0 properties are very strict about the content, and are closing lenses down pretty quickly
