Spamming is a bad idea and may get you banned from adsense.

Yes, sudden increase of traffic will cause many invalid click and will get your account ban. It's not recommended to spam and get traffic.

I spam the hell out of Myspace all the time. I'm trying to get my sites popular with the overall goal to make a lot of money. I will NOT let Google tell me what I can and can't do advertising wise. They probably just want me to use Adwords to advertise my site, not going to happen, at least not yet. I don't spam email, but Myspace is something I will continue to do and has wielded great results. As long as I'm not telling people to come click on my ads I should be fine, but if Google has a problem with me advertising on Myspace then they can go fly a kite. I will find another AD company.

Do any of you guys find Google's rules and regulations ridiculous? They need to realize that they are not the internet police nor are they judges, they are a search engine and a medium between the advertiser and the publisher, nothing more. I'm losing more and more respect for them every single day.

I mean I can see if Myspace was a site that they owned.

This seems like a temporary fix for you to get traffic. I would suggest you focus more of you time on building a higher quality of your sites so that people will do the advertising for you.

Myspace advertising takes about 5 mins a day. You have one program that sends out messages to A LOT of people on Myspace. I don't spend much time doing this but at the same time I am not going to let a search engine tell me that I can't.

Spamming is never a good choice for advertisement. It probably is not against Google's TOS, but it's not really ethical if you ask me.

It's not the right thing to do and more than likely you will eventually get banned by Google for this practice. Google only has control over there own universe, so a Google ban will not effect anyone else but their search results and those of there partners like AOL.

question, aside from getting a link back from another site, isnt posting your url in forums, blogs, all part of advertising.

i think i put the wrong description in my title....spamming is providing a incorrect description about the site content fooling people to visit. however, putting valid descriptions, is that not part of valid advertising?

In the true sense of the word, Google considers links SPAM unless the owner of another website adds your link without compensation. In other words, a person that believes your content is good enough to add to their website without payment. By adding your own link to other websites, in Google's eyes it is SPAMMING. However, there are many other people that believe like you do and they view adding their own links to other peoples websites in the same way brick and mortar businesses might put signs in windows and posters on telephone poles.

Your right, Google only has control over their own universe, but the thing is, their universe seems to be expanding for some reason, I wonder why that is? Google is suppose to be a search engine, a search engine that finds the most relevant content to ones query. But why are they de-indexing sites and de-ranking them in the SERP? Isn't that contradicting their very goal? A user will not find the site with the most relevant content if they de-index it, or move their site way down in the SERP. I just don't get it.

Advertising is a way to get people to come to your site. Google cannot force you not to advertise on a site they do not own nor can they tell if it is actually you advertising or someone else, just like they can't tell if it's you submitting links to link farms or someone trying to get you moved down in the SERP.

Google is a business... if they feel that you are cheating their system they will de-index you. Enough said.

Spamming may get you more than banned from adsense...;) (Sued maybe?)

Edit: Look at this rule :

    * May not promote sites displaying ads through unsolicited mass emails or unwanted advertisements on third-party websites

opps, must of missed that "....on third party websites"

so i guess directories, rss feeds, backlinks, and forum posts are the main safe ways to advertise.

    thanks forposting

Sudden increase of traffic does not always lead to invalid clicks. But I agree with the latter point.
