Is somebody click-bombing me?

    On one of my websites.

Today, I had 63 impressions with 13 clicks and 20% CTR and $1.18 earning.

I sense that something is fishy as I havent got that kinda CTR before on that particular website.

What should i do? Report it to Google or just ignore it?

    Thanks

google knows and sees all. They probably new it before you did, if it actually is the case. If they see that you are in no way involved with it then your fine...

    hey karan,

that's a low impressions value. that way you can't say you've been click bombed.

but, what happened before to harm you?

why's that Fire? IMHO 20% CTR is normal if you have low impressions, lets say less than 100 ...

It could just be a coincidence, but I'd probably be a bit concerned as well.

Some days I get unusually high CTR and some days I barely get any clicks at all. It all averages out.

63 impressions is not enough data to be worried about anything. If your data showed 58 clicks and 63 impressions I could understand, but honestly, with that type of traffic it isn't that unlikely for your CTR to vary widely day to day.

What is your site about? Could there have been an ad displaying that was extremely pertinent to some of your content?

Keep in mind that the number of impressions you have, just 63, will skew your CTR. For instance, if you have 2 impressions and one click, you'll have a whopping 50% CTR. So, no, the CTR is not abnormal. That's just the result of having very low impression against a high click ratio.

I'd think is someone was actually out to harm you by mass clicking your stuff, they'd mass-click a lot more than that. dont they usually just go nuts with it so that it gives you >100% ctr?

It is totally conceivable that you may have had highly related ads. I've read a study (cant remember where) that insinuated that if the ads are relevant enough, the customer will click one, and sometimes hit the back button and check out the next. This would give you a 200% CTR right there.

This is obviously rare, but 20% with that few impressions is totally fine and normal. Worry not.

Yeap, I have done that. I am browsing for information and i see a few links i like, i click one. If i dont like it I go back and try the other.

    It does happen.

Yeah. And it is becoming more and more common with the spread of tabbed browsing.

How many of you all right click each of a set of interesting links and open in a new tab? (or even have your browsers do this automatically?)

This would look like a really high CTR, since the page with the links woudln't be refreshed each time.
