Hey guys, So I've recently began to use http://www.socialmarker.com to submit several of my blog posts to the top social bookmarking directories there. I'm doing a submission of one post, per blog, per day, as I don't want to "spam" the social bookmarking sites with too many links. I also am doing this to make the link building more consistent and natural. Here's my question: Is this something that is beneficial more long term than it is in the short term? Am I wasting my time with doing this? I do a lot of other aspects of marketing, and TONS of article marketing (although I've written hundreds of articles. Quite frankly, I'm just burnt out on continuous article writing. I'm starting to find other uses for my articles I've written), but I really wanted to see the power of social bookmarking and how I can leverage my site with it.
I feel its a good way to build backlinks but don't over do it as Google is really very strict..so excessive bookmarking can backfire...
Social Bookmarking is more of a short term thing. In my experience, it will get you a burst of traffic for a day or two, and then die down rapidly. If the SB sites are dofollow, it will add some (possibly) quality backlinks which never hurts in the long run. Generally used more for short term effects though
From my own experience, links from social bookmarking sites are crap (SEO-wise). Social bookmarking is intended for driving traffic, not increasing SERP. However the traffic doesn't really convert well, so social bookmarking is a waste of time
You probably want to make sure that the site is Do Follow. Otherwise, good luck with this and let us know how it goes.
yes in socialmarker you have the option to choose only do follow sb sites. in my experience, linksmarker.com gives me the best mileage in terms of backlinks and rankings. i also would like to add that the links provided by the sb sites are also long-term. i have bookmarking that are still up for months now and they are ranking well. i believe you just have to select your battle and keywords right.
social bookmarking if benificial if you increase or if you wanna boost up ur traffic after than the traffic depends on the likeness or dislikeness by the user if you have a good concept website.......than it is perfect for you if not than i'll suggest you to have a good concept
yes with social bookmarking u increase back link but u not increase traffic. because these way u will not increase your website community.
I do think social bookmarking your own pages when starting a new site is a good idea to build backlinks. But after a while I think it may be more beneficial to not do it yourself but provide the widgets of the big social bookmarkers so your visitors can then submit themselves. The reason is that if your content is good enough you may get one of the "Elite" users of these sites such as MrBabyman at Digg. These users have lots of friends and followers who could get your site to the frontpage just because they submitted. If you digged it yourself and you are not a big user of these sites then you throw away that chance and your submission gets lost amongst everyone elses.
