cheers. in case anyone's wondering, I only respond to questions on here that I know the answers to.

and the way I know this isn't very important in the grand scheme of things is because we outrank older sites with younger sites, for a living, all day long ;)

everybody here trotting out the same old cliched answers without reading the whole thread ought to go away and do some testing.

and by testing that doesnt mean put a new site live, complain that it doesnt outrank the older sites, then conveniently blame it on domain age.

it IS possible to outrank older sites with brand new ones if you have the know how and the resources.

Well, if it is that young - we are certainly talking Google sandbox filter. Just wait a bit...

The stats do not prove anything at all. The only thing they are indicative of is that your traffic increases over time - fair enough, more people are able to find it.

Domain age is not an important factor, and I wish people would stop parroting what is being spun around and around.

The simplest way to put it is:
If you have two identical sites and one is older than the other then it will be better ranked.

But, before getting depressed with owning a brand new site take a look at your keyword competition.
I have found in my field that the best ranked are the oldest but many which rank above me are younger which tells me they have better seo guys :(

Yes site age plays a great role. However, it could also be that the other website has purchased google adwords campaign and therefore gets a big boost on SERP.

Domain age is a big factor. Hitting one year old seems to make quite a difference to my sites.

I saw a significant jump in my SERP once some of my pages had their first birthday. I have heard the next big one comes at 2, and then at 5... but that may just be a rumor. We will have to see.

    Hum...good to know it...

Just to have an idea, can you give an example?
E.G: "I was in position 11, and went to 2"...
