I am sure the majority of sites are safe, but you do have to be careful with some of them. You could try using an escrow service if you are buying something worth a lot of money. That is when you give the money to a 3rd party and your supplier sends you the goods and when you receive the goods the 3rd party pays your supplier.

Never ever, ever buy anything online using your credit card from a site that doesn't have SSL (secure sockets layer) encryption installed—at the very least. You'll know if it has it because the URL for the site will start with HTTPS:// (instead of just HTTP://) and an icon of a locked padlock will appear, typically in the status bar at the bottom of your Web browser. Never give anyone your credit card over e-mail. PayPal, however, is still a good, safe way to make a payment

Yeah..absolutely. Shopping online is really easy and hassle free. It is safe also. but you need to verify the payment gateway and courier options of the website thoroughly.

It depends on what you are wanting to purchase.

Large Companies such as Amazon, Dell, HP, etc would be reasonably safe. Also online branches of established stores like Sears.

Here is a tip for shopping online safely! if the online store has https:// instead of http://, then it uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) Cert to secure your information (credit cards, etc).

So https:// is more secure than http://

Online shopping is as safe as the website you are purchasing from.
Use your best judgement and always remember: If it looks shady, it probably is.

Yeah, it's safe. But I suggest you if you are buying clothes or any thing that we use everyday in life then plz don't buy them online because on the screen of your pc or laptop you can't see the actual color of dress or anything.

Not all sites could be classified as "safe" even if they have a 128k or 256k SSL. Of course paying for items on a site with a secure connection is the best way to minimize scams. Paying with Paypal also minimizes risk since Paypal guarantees their transactions. Doing a simple search of the website on Google is also a good way to find out what they have been up to.
