I know Shawn used to edit a few categories in DMOZ, one in which a friend of mine site was in but I no longer see him there, has he been promoted or given the chop?

I think I was auto-removed since I didn't log in for whatever the threshold was. Maybe someday if I have more time to do it, I'll request reinstatement.

For an editor, loggin in and deleteing a few competitor's sites would count as activity

If an editor logs in and deletes a fryman site, he gets bonus points and doesn't have to edit again for a year.

Yeah, I guess some editor got 2 free years now

Not even bothering to submit any more, it just isn't a fair place to be.

I thought it was 3 months and you have to make an edit - just changing the text in one of your bookmarks counts. Or deleting a red. Or fryman's sites. Logging in is not enough.

Why not submit? I submit and then never think twice about it. It'll show up on my PRStatus (Firefox lugin) if I ever get added. I just submit, and never look back. It's a lot easier than pulling hair out -- and there really isn't any harm in submitting...

I think this is great advice - it doesn't take long to submit. If you do get added to the directory, it will benefit the site.

The only time it gets to be a large time investment is when you start expending effort to check whether the site has been reviewed, complaining when it hasn't, etc.

Submit, and move on. If you get listed, great, if not, you can still have a successful site.

Alucard - having lots of sites, I can't always remember if I've submitted some. Is there any way to check if a site has been submitted? I know that resubmitting is a no-no.

elkiwi, no, I'm sorry, but there is no way of knowing which sites have been submitted.

Submitting ONCE more is usually not considered spamming the directory, if you are uncertain. Submitting regularly is both unneccessary and could lead to a definite non-listing, though.

It's probably best if you keep your own records of submissions.
