Is Setting GEO Settings on Google Webmaster Really Helps?

Guys, may I asked if the GEO setting on Google really helps? What if I set my configuration of my home page to no country then a sub-folder which I recently created set to USA country because I want to see the ranking of that sub-folder to the said country, will that make any difference or it is not correct?

Instead set your Website to any particular country then it will surly help you in ranking in that particular country.

 

I have changed our settings to UK however, I can't say that I have seen much of a difference.

 

For sites that have been up before that change was implemented in WBC I did not see much of anything, however, for my newer sites after that change, it helped...
