Hello DP Members, Like you, I'm a part of this forum to try to get the best rankings for my websites and blogs and to learn all I can about SEO. The DP community is enormous and really helpful and has taught me a lot. Yet there is so much more to learn. I was over at Aaron Wall's blog, just reading some of his articles, and realized I had never really read the sales letter for his SEOBOOK... so I did. Of course I'm going to say it sounded awesome, that's what sells eBooks, but I wanted to know if any of the members here on DP have bought this book and if it is really as good as the sales page makes it out to be. The fact that it's updated free for life is quite a perk. Please let me know your honest opinion... Here's a link if you're wondering what the hell I'm talking about: http://www.seobook.com/buy-now.shtml (non-affiliate... obviously) Kenny
theres nothing in that book that you cant learn on the forums if you just search the right places and ask the right people still a good read though
One of my friend purchased that book and i read it it seems very good and useful with latest search engine technology and other important information... I think it is worth to purchase...
but the problem is the SE's trends changes dramatically... so if you buy that book after 3mos or so, you might not get the latest info. anyway i think its worth it for now...
Thanks everybody... Keep 'em comin. Any specifics in the book that dramatically helped you in your SEO adventure? Especially in link building... I need help in that department.
If you buy an seo book today, be sure to read, study and apply it as much as possible. because, we all know that SE's keeps on changing and updating.. and everyday has a new tools, tricks and tactics in doing seo, however seo book is worth for now especially when you are just a beginner and want learn more about seo.
A Just look around. Every SEO blog is quoting tactics and information from ebooks, Mat Cutts, Aron Walls, and every other SEO "guru" in the rotating market. If you read through enough blogs, you will get the same information rewritten, over and over again, in different fonts and colors. IF you want to avoid the search, yes buy the book. It is not a waste of money by no means.
Also, time is money, so if you don't want to search around for the best SEO information, buy this book. It's got great SEO information in one place. And it's pretty comprehensive - over 300 pages. Disclaimer: I haven't bought the book, but SEObook.com is on my RSS reader. I would buy it, but right now I'm so busy I don't even have time to read! Once I have some breathing room in my work, I'll definitely buy it. Another good place to get SEO information is SEOmoz.com. Their membership program looks pretty good.
If I were brand-spanking-new to everything, I'd buy it. It's a time/money thing. Yes, you can find that info all over the place. The question is, how valuable is your time? It's a good book for newbies. But, like anything, there's no magic bullet. It takes work and time to increase rankings for the "good stuff."
No it's not worth it. You can find all the information on forums like DP. However it's good for a gift
Wow, it's great to see the diversity in all of these answers. Here's the basic gist I'm getting from all of your comments: SEO Book is a good buy (for the most part) if you want all the compiled information from the web in one place Or... you can take the time to search the web, forums and blogs to find it yourself and save $77... So, how about listing forums and blogs all of you visit to learn SEO. I'll start: SEOBook SEOMoz (mentioned by pholpher above) SEO Black Hat SEO2020 (learned a lot from this site) Please add to this list... maybe we'll create a resource for people who don't want to buy SEOBook... Sorry Mr. Wall
For link building Aron really isn't the only person to read. If that's your basic question what he has to add can be summed up as: don't just buy and ask for links: do good PR (on whatever forum), for compelling content and you will get links for free. I've seen sites get hundreds of quality on topic links from being mentioned in the papers. So if you already know the basics, those blogs you mention are a good idea. Personally I'd ditch the blackhat one though. For blackhat info bluehat SEO blog is very good - and since you shouldn't be practicing blackhat SEO anyhow, why read more than one? For my favorites see: http://www.katinkahesselink.net/internet/links.html
I wouldnt waste my money on the book, read parts of it and the only thing that impressed me was how much money hes been able to extract out of people.
Well, the answer to this question depends on your current income level. If you work a typical day job in the US and make 2 to 5 thousand dollars a month, then $79 is a very fair price and it's definitely worth it. If you are strapped for cash, then I don't think you should spend $79 on this book. The book does have some great information for beginners, is well written & well organized, but there are no secrets or clever link building tricks.
i don't think it's a good seo ebook. i paid for it and asked for a refund because i don't find anything special about that ebook. it's all about marketing a new site (brand new site) and not so much about seo, also it's almost not updated at all, so it's old search engine news). also it so big so your can't be sure what to do to improve your search results.
