All things are important.. SMO is also a important technique so as seo rankings too.

I believe SEO gives you greater control over your site and its visitors. It certainly facilitates analysis based on keywords and content, whereas I think social media marketing can be very hit and miss. SEO is science, SMO is music.

 

According to current online market situation, your company or site need to reach as many people as it can. Now a days people does not rely only on search engines.

Another thing is, it is of course depends what industry you are working on. Means if you are selling Viagra then bothering others by sending friend request with stuffing marketing language and link to your site won't work for sure.

On the other hand, SMO is the best thing to do while establishing your brand name. Also visitors will come to your site by following the link on social media but you need to be very precise and sound at your site presentation.

Remember, tell visitors what you want to say. Also tell them what you just told... Visitors are not necessarily an intelligent one as you are expecting him/her as being.

At conclusion I'll add that only SMO wont work coz people at SM are not intended to buy something or found something. They are there mainly for human networking. So first make friends, be formal and natural and then target them gently with your marketing things. They will surely gonna follow all the stuffs they are going to be provided with.

What goes for traffic, Google is #1 and Yahoo is #2. These search engines are used more than social media websites.

Think about this. Social media sites are made to connect to people. Not specifically to look for information or websites.
Search engines are concentrating on finding information people are looking for.

SEO is a better way to drive traffic to your website.

 

you can gain traffics from SEO or SMO if you perform the strategy properly, now a days social news, social networking, social bookmarking, photo sharing and video sharing, forums and message board are part of SMO that is why its become more appealing to internet marketers but still SEO will do.

social media is actually SEM (marketing) because you are building traffic/links to your site

Traffic from social media does not convert well at all. I still prefer concentrating my efforts to seo.

SMO can bring traffic. But SEO traffic are more target traffic. It can bring SERP and traffic. You could try both methods. After all out target is to get traffic.

For an overall health of a website both SEO and SMO are vital elements.Each one of them serve specific purpose and this makes them independent of each other as far as the objectivity is concerned.SMO is fairly new concept and is sure gaining momentum while SEO is established and essential for survival of a website.They are like air and water for a website.
