Really? You achieved top rankings in google without any backlinks? Am I missing something here?

I think most people put too much emphasis on SEO and not enough emphasis on creating quality unique content that the majority of people want to read and therefore link to.

To put it simply, SEO and content is like the chicken and the egg concept, you need both.

He clearly stated that he had the backlinks, but he got them as a natural result of having a good site, not as a result of link building efforts.

the content came first, search engines are a relatively new concept to the web, content has been around much longer.

I think that the most important thing to rank well is not SEO although it will help. Many people forget that Google is constantly changing and what worked a few months ago might not work today. I would rather build my sites on good content rather than gamble with SEO tricks that might never pay off.

Just a reminder - there are probably as many sites without content that want to rank on Googles front pages for their keyword terms.

    http://www.designershoes.com/designer/

    www.americas-diamonds.com

The true seo gets sites ranked no matter how they are built or what content is included.

SEO includes the ability to solve most webmasters issues... and the insite to know when to say no thanks..

Important Note - Why there is a big strip on the diamonds site I have no clue I'm just a marketer lol
