Hello experts, I have always build a site with ONLY google in mind as I always think that google is the best search engine that people would use to do search. However, I understand the potential of yahoo and MSN as well. So I would really like to learn how to boost traffic from MSN and yahoo as well. May someone shed some light please?
Perform your work as usual since in my oppinion there is nothing special that you can do to optimize especially for other SE's. Don't worry if you do your optimization as usual you will do fine Maybe there is something i don't know about so if anyone else has another view please share.
What works for Google works pretty well for yahoo and MSN. However take care that MSN has problems indexing URLs with too many hypens (more than 3). Also pay attention to your site internal link structure. Yahoo and MSN are not so good at finding pages deeply burried in the sites. However, no need to cloak for the different SEs yet
I beg to differ. MSN indexes about 10x more pages than Google or Yahoo. Many of my urls are hyphenated and they rank well in MSN but not so well in Google. So I'd say it's Google that doesn't index overhyphenated URLs.
I actually optimized one of my site's entirely for Google and my ended up ranking third in MSN. Go figure.
wow, every suggestion are very good many hyphen in the URL will hurt? Oh... No... I always thought hyphen replace space. (My blog, inside my signature) has exactly 3 hypens :s . Jan Taggle, how can i know my site structure? I'm using wordpress.. Is it a good structure?
My site does not listed in 750 for google. But in MSN and yahoo it comes on the second or third page.
Jan, I just wonder why my site does not seem to get indexed by google? I saw in my log, only 4 compare to 50+ bots from google spidered my site... Am I being sandboxed?
toby, I'm not 100% positive, but IMO it looks like your site is blacklisted in google: - look at http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=make-money-online-tips.com&btnG=Search - then compare to http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=notexistingsite.com&btnG=Search For a simply not existing or not yet indexed site, Google proposes a link The fact that Google does not propose this link for your site makes me believe that it is blacklisted. Can anyone confirm my opinion?
guidelines for all these search engines are almost similar. and i think, as long as we follow them, we may rank well in all these search engines well. also the number of incoming links for our site that are recognised by these search engines matter our ranking
