is Selling a domain via Paypal eCheck safe?

I have an offer on a domain that I have accepted. The buyer seems legit but we all know how that is online.

He has submitted payment via Paypal eCheck and I am concerned that it can be canceled after I transfer to him. Any thoughts on what to do after the check clears? Is Paypal a suitable escrow?

Once the e-check has cleared his bank (3-5 days) and you get notice of the same I think you are as safe as any online transaction. Maybe more so than if he used a CC.

Under no circumstances would I transfer the domain until the check clears.

Depends on the amount of money, I have sold domains using Paypal and no problem until now.

However large amounts might involve a potential risk, that you can always sort out via Dispute Center or truing a direct bank transfer instead. But Colbyt is right, never transfer if you have a check that is not cleared out.

Since you teased us in this thread, I hope this is where you will post the story. If not at least post a link to the new thread here.

I would say echeck is safe, but wait for it clear prior to handing over product
