I have been told different things , so I am a bit confused – can someone please tell me if a website or blog is automatically picked up by the search engines , directories etc. or does it have to be done manually. All of these companys that offer search engine submission services absolutely necessary for a website to be recognized & advertised online ???. Thank you Craig
You don't really have to submit your sites to search engines. Once you build backlinks to your site, google will pick it up. Once google will index your site then other top search engines like yahoo and bing will also recognize your site. But it is also good to submit your site to other directories [except google,yahoo] so your backlinks will be spread all over and it will add authority to your site. Hope this helps
Hey, I really do not believe that you need to go and submit to search engines because now a days they are smart enough to pick you up by themselves. Besides if you really want to take the first step or your site is not showing up in Google even after a month of uploading you can do either of the following: 1. Look for add url link in the search engine itself, like "Add URL Google" this should show you the Google submission page. 2. I normally love to go to blogger.com and post a blog with links to my new or updated page and then publish this blog because it is fast and hassle free. In this way Goggle and other search engines can crawl your page easily. 3. You can also post articles to get good search engine tracking. About using seo services, well if you have a couple of grand spare that you would like to invest on your site, it may not be a bad option but if your are starting up and would like to understand more about online marketing I would suggest you to do it yourself for a while. There are tones of data online on how to market a website, so it will not be hard for you to find directions. Best of luck,
I believe indexing your site may be accelerated by search engine submissions. There are many different types of free submission softwares available. You need to get into directory listing to submit your site.
Why submit your site to search engines if it will be crawled naturally? About directories, paying a company or service to submit your site to thousands of directories is definitely a waste of time. Why? There is no difference between submitting to thousands of directories and submitting to few ones because both have the least weight value. Though it is not bad, even if you use software. Just don't overuse it. However, if you want to have good number of backlinks, you can do it.
