I have heard that every time a visitor uses search box, your adsense account is charged a small fee. Do you guys think it is still good to have a search box

I heard Elvis was still alive ... huh?

I've never heard this, don't believe it and question why you would bring it up to begin with.

    I heard - from where?

    I read - from where?

If you're going to believe everything you hear and read before exercising a little skepticism and discretion, I'd like to sell you London Bridge.

Further, if that's your concern, then don't use it.

Its true but the cost is hardly anything and thus cannot be a reason for not using the search box on your site.

I use FreeFind. It's *fully customizable*, indexes *ALL the pages you want*, you receive weekly reports, your visitors remain in your site and I never saw a glitch in 6 years.

What I always tell people is this: Get your own 3rd party (free) site search tool and place contextual ads on your results page. Set it up so the search term comes up in the url/pagename/wherever you can, so the ad logic has something to contextualize from.

earncef - I stand correct and apologize. It apparently is true, but as sachin points out in response quoting Google:

    - you are never charged more than their take, hence you'll never "owe" them
    - this affects less than %1; unless your site is generating that much traffic, I doubt you're in that bracket

I've noticed an increase in my search click payouts over the last month or so. Not sure if it is just coincidence. Any one else in the same boat?

I earn .30 cents a month from the searches. Google can have it as long as I get to use their search boxes. :)
