Is reciprocal link exchange is black hat SEO?

    As of I know I don’t think that reciprocal link exchange is black hat SEO, I have done reciprocal link exchange for my software development website with same theme of software development website, but one my friend said sum points about reciprocal link exchange and he thinks we should not do reciprocal link exchange

    Here it is his points

    1. Why are they so prominently displayed on our website (This page is available from every page) from our top menu. At best it should be available ONLY from the footer somewhere. The reason I say that is any content reachable from top menu should add value to the visitor.

    3. We are linking to companies whose link pages have 100s of outbound links. The link exchange is not on parity.

    4. There are those that we link to who don’t link back to us through keywords: http://www.minfosystems.com/directory/software_devlopment.aspx. This particular one lists our site on a page, which is also linking to vending machines on the same page.

    5. Most of these sites have got the link back to us from a page, which has VERY LOW or NO page rank. While our resource page is PR 4. We are leaking page rank. And not getting any back.

    6. Finally, I feel pointing to competitors from our corporate website is not good style.


    I am against Link Exchange. We have to strive for one way link where people link to us on merit and not through link exchange. Link Exchange is almost bordering BlackHat. "


    now please suggest me wht to do?

    Link exchange with good PR sites and not sites which has a low PR

    Suppose if my link exchange page is PR4 ,I will do link exchange with a page whose PR is 3 or above PR4..

    and not with PR1 and PR0 pages

    mine resource page PR is 4 and most of the sites PR is 0, so should i remove their link frm my resource page?

    Yes Exactly, If you've Got PR 4 in your Resource page and your Some partner site's Back links PR is 0 so i Don't think, it will Worth for your site.

    and Link Exchange is Not Black Hat but just try to get the Related links with your Targeted keywords and with quality and High PR sites.

    ACTUALLY 3 WAY L E is USELESS.. YOU CAN IMPROVE ETHE NUMBER OF LINKS.. BUT IT MIGHT BE NON RELATED LINKS> SO YOU WONT GET ANY BENEFIT.........
