Since US 's house price is dropping fast and there is finance crisis, Is Real estate still a good niche for directory now?

I am planning to start a niche directory for real estate.

    Thanks for sharing.

    Hello...

    I would.... ;)

its still a niche and im sure within a year or so the market will rebound and the
need for real estate directories will come back, plus some extra income from adsence
clicks can really help as they still pay decent for that niche (2-10 per click) while you
    build its back-links and popularity.

    thx

make a good quality directory with lots of sites you ad yourself and you should still receive submissions at least some submissions even with the market how it is atm
work on i until the recession is over an you should be in a strong position to reap the rewards as submitters start to submit again
just make sure you write you own descriptions, add articles maybe and get those empty categories filled up

You don't just need to make a business directory. My fruity directory only really lists informative websites. I don't accept surgeons, dental practices, health insurance and similar businesses.

For that reason you could build up a huge database of information surrounding your niche - articles, blogs, wikis and other helpful websites.

Also don't forget that in countries like the UK it's companies that handle house sales - not individuals like in countries like the USA.

I'd ask Bruce aswell. Seen as he owns a real estate directory and is a Realtor.

it's really not a smart idea to build up a directory for adsense,
never recommend anyone use adsense at paid directories...

it's ok if using adsense at paid directory... but you must have a good place to put it... also directory is not just for online people.... maybe offline people want to know about real estates company.. and it will find your site...

That's a very good question. Real estate agents will definitely be conserving their cash and spending less on advertising. On the other hand, I believe that the real estate crisis is still mostly limited to the United States, at least so far.

There are already more than 250 real estate directories out there, which is quite a few for this niche.

I didnt say build the directory for adsence revenue but to only "compliment it and add additional income".
Running 2 ads is enough as no need for 3 ads as it makes it to pushy and adsence dominated whether free
    or paid directory.

    thx

I imagine real estate is insanely competitive though.

If you're in it for the long haul, now is as good a time as any. You'll be established when things get better, rather than scrambling to try to catch up.

If you're looking for short term profits, I would say maybe no. There will be some culling of the herd, so to speak, in the coming year or three.

Didn't realize he had a RE directory...what is it?

As he hasn't openly promoted it at DP I don't want to share it. Perhaps you can reach him personally if it's not listed in his directory (AD) ;)

I would suggest go for it. The advertisers are still paying high CPC for real estate related adwords. Try to mix it with loans, mortgages, etc.
