I keep reading that QS is improved by creating a separate landing page for each keyword or set of keywords. So I tried it with 2 of my keywords, and called the new pages index1 and index2. The result is that where my original landing (index) page has a Google PR of 4, the new landing pages have nada PR at all. Surely my QS would be better staying with the PR4 page? Or am I missing something?
Quality Score is how relevant your ad text, landing page and the keywords you are targeting... Its an over simplification but if you search Google or this forum you'll find lots of other information
MikeyP Your initial viewpoint is correct ... the more super targeted the individual landing page to the adgroup the better will be your QS and so lower CPC ... Page Rank has nowt to do with it ... it is always about relevancy with google ... the more relevant the better you will fair ... the whole thing has to follow though - from highly targeted small no. of kws adgroup, use the kws in the ad, get a good ctr, relevant landing page to the search term (kws) ... if you go with that model your QS will be good and relatively it will cost you less to maintain good pos. which in turn improve you ctr ... So, I am thinking from what I have read, I want lots of keywords, but in separate adgroups with 10-15 variations of keyword theme in each group(example below) : shoes red shoes basketball shoes high top shoes Or should these be split up also? I have gotten my keywords to 0.10-0.30 OK's and $1 POOR's. Now I have to increase my bid to get the advert shown, and work on getting text that is compelling enough to generate high CTR. Once High CTR rate is achieved, I can then start to lower my CPC and let the CTR carry the keyword more than the higher bid? Am I thinking correctly? Thanks Russell
It's always best practice to test out various landing pages. Ultimately your not just seeking CT's but conversions to key outcomes. Usually what we do is test out the various ad text to improve CT then start testing landing pages. If needed going back to re-test the ad copy.
The site itself does have an impact on your Quality Score, in a test I ran today I compared the exact same Ad/Keyword/Landing Page but different URL's one website was recognised in Google and the other was not, the one that Google had indexed got a higher Quality Score than the site that was not indexed. Instead of indexing having something to do with it, it could well have been the structure of the site that Google favored. Any thoughts?
