Is putting Copyright YOUTUBE videos on my site illegal?

    I have my site, the music one. I got some music videos on there, is this illegal?? THey're all just script from youtube.com, who regularly deletes the copyright ones. So realyl its not illlegal then eh?

    It's not legal to use any content without the permission of the author or rights holder. Technically, any original content is protected even without a formal copyright filing.

    I wouldn't. If the copyright holders want to sue anybody, it'll be YouTube. They're not going to go around suing 1000s of sites using the video when they can go to YouTube and get the link shut down. I wouldn't worry about it.

    It's up to you. There are thousands of sites that violate copyright laws - but the bottom line is that if your site is infringing, you are liable for damages. You can still be held liable even if you remove them when contacted. There is no law that says go ahead as use something you don't own until you are contacted. You are responsible for having permission to use anything on a site you own. The chance are "probably" fairly small that someone will go after a small site for damages - but you have to decide if you want to take the risk. Even using a photograph opens the door to the photographer demanding a "usage fee" that they get to price.
