Thanks much for your help, should I try to put it in most or all of the images I can think, one more think, it is okey to put "alt" name or image or should I give them a content related name.

Is there any specific better way to do it

The real purpose of the alt tag is to give a description of the image in situations where it can't be seen - because of the browser settings or whatever - so that's what you should put for it.

thanks buddy for suggestions, as I am going through and implementing it, I am coming with more questions.

I have another thing which I came up, some images I have in css style background which means, we cannot put "alt" tag in there, so should I try to avoid putting images in css style or background images.

background images do not count for alt tags because they are technically not images, they are backgrounds

The Alt tag provide a description for the image and it helps towards getting it indexed in image search. Is especially useful for those that turned off the image loading in browser. At least the text description is there rather than a blank space that appears.

CSS background images do not need any Alt tags because they are not useful for visitors.Alt tags are also very useful for visitors in some cases like if they don't know about a particular image they can find it by hovering mouse over it

And for indexing in image search results also alt tags plays the most important role since engines cannot recognize the image.CSS background images don't need Alt tags because search engines do not need them in their results.
