I have been promoting Clickbank links in both Twitter and Facebook but haven't gained any purchase with even less-priced products. Do I miss something here?

Choose some different product.may be the product you are promoting is not so good to catch visitors.so i think you should try something different. All the best.

try to use thematic networks - more targeted people usually are buying better.

I just don't think this is a particularly effective way to make money

I would suggest you to choose products with 20+ gravity, rather than promoting cheap products.

Continue the hard work..I he you have a great and converting product to sell although the rate is low bt it doesn't matter.Try to promote in the relevant groups and make some little research who might be your targeted customers and prepare your marketing plan wisely.

I've had a few successes with affiliate links on Twitter, but I think it just might have been blind luck.

It probably really does depend on what you are recommending and if you've build a strong enough audience to want to act on your links.
