I am new to internet marketing and recently registered 2 domains with Godaddy. They have some options you can include with your order like: Private Registration, Certified Domain, etc. Is any of these necessary?
Private registration is not necessary but every time I've registered a new domain name, I got it. Since I'm doing SEO with all the domains I've brought to hopefully get them good rankings, people who see my site may do research on it. If they do, they could find out my personal information if I didn't get private registration, so that's why I got it.
it depends, like Todaynic, it offers API Mode to the overseas domain names/hosting resellers, just a free registration and you can get a free 15 days trial, i think it's very good for us customers.
It depends on the site your doing. I would suggest using it if it is personal and you don't have a business address associated to it. Who knows what crazy people are out their. If you make a website that offends anyone, they can easily get your details and pay you a visit.
It is not mandatory but you can choose the option to hide your whois info. Please note that whois privacy is not possible with some some domains such as country level domains .in [India] etc. ____________ My Socio-personal blog Qutub Minar, Delhi
Different people will choose different registration options, you just need to know what you need really. you know the provider supplies different, that must be reasonable. Godaddy is the biggest provider, if it did badly, so how can other providers run?
if you want people to contact you via whois then make it public or use private registration which forwards the mails like name.com
I would actually not use private registration. Private registration is frowned upon by many. Having public who-is is a way to build trust making it seem like you have nothing to hide.
Can't you just update the whois by filling in fake details in the public info? then no need to pay for private.
