Useless for me, I can see from last PR update I got PR from 5 to 6 but I lost all most keyword in SERP
Wow, that sucks. I'd rather have SERPs than PR. The only usefulness of PR seems to bar newer websites from gaining links as a lot of "established" sites (read sites with PR) refuse to exchange links with new websites that have little or no PR. Maybe this contributes to people being prepared to buy links to high PR sites, and to the propensity for high PR sites to sell links. For my 2-cents, I wouldn't care less if it, and Alexa ranking, went the way of the dodo
Why is Gold more precious than steel? Is it because It's stronger? I doubt it! It's because it is rare! If all sites are PR10 then I would say PR is useless. If you have PR0, I doubt any one would like to link exchange with you. No links = No key words anchor text = No SERPS. As long as most people still give weight to PR, it will still be important to me even it is not for Google.
==>Yeah,I agree with you. The high PR will help you get more traffic from link exchange. But with PR 0.Your site will be ignore when you request exchange. No Link exchange that means No SERPS.
Pagerank of course is very important. Google has mentioned it in number of places. I wonder why some people always talk PR is useless yet spend most the time here talking about PR. I find it little odd!
Hi, I think PR is important for the following reasons : 1) If you have a good PR, google obviously think syour site is important. So that must be good! 2) It also shows that you are promoting your site well. 3) As most people on here are website owners, everyone knows it helps to have a high pr when exchanging links with other websites. In the past, if I have had a low PR, nobody wants to exchange links when i have asked. Then when you have a high PR, everybody contacts you! 4) Obviously for web directory owners and anyone else who sells website links, PR is the measure they use to determine how much they sell their links for. So, for those people who say PR has no value, I suspect they dont have a good PR themselves, or, are just unaware of how a good PR can help them promote their website. Thanks Mark
Would you also not exchange links with a PR0? At the moment it only has value because we give it value. We're chasing PR and therefore won't link to PR0 sites, not because their backlinks are of lesser value, but because we devalue them based on thier PR.
It only has value because we give it value.....I'm sure it has an impact on SERPS but it is very small and there are hundreds of other factors to consider
The fact is Google is tighter with its information and weight determination factors than the US government is with its national security. Unless anyone on this post works for Google, every opinion has little to no weight
What are you talking about?!!! Of Course many members here know a lot, without working for Google, you don't have to get hit by a car to know that you should get away when you see a speeding one!
Useless, useless... don't ask. For that fact, my site's home page is PR 6 and 95% of other pages are PR 5 and trust me, I never knew it. I did know it when my cousin asked me what was my site's PR when his was PR 2.
Exactly one of the problems facing new sites, that nobody wants to trade links if they don't have PR. Personally, I generally trade with anybody who has good content and is working to update their site because you never know if that PR0 site today will be a PR5 site tomorrow and you'll have missed a good backlink.
