How important is high PR these days? I've heard that Google is no really longer working on the PR algorithm, but rather a "trust rank" algo instead.
PR is still important but a trusted site with quality site is more important than everything else.. you might want to read this thread also about how important PR is.. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=54283
IMO it's much better if Google implements that kind of algo. (trust rank) cause oftentimes, PR is manipulated
PR is still important but now doing good quality link building with off-page optimization is important.
Visitors are always more important then PR. After you do a change on the site test if you get more visitors, not bigger PR.
As what other SEO expert said, PR is not that important anymore., The important thing now is your SERP and PR is just a plus factor.
Where was the source you heard? The PR is still important!!! I always grab top spot at Google by paying attention to the PR.
I agree. In fact I am quite concern with people saying "PR not so important but SERP is" Now how do you get better SERP? I can think of only 2 factors: Link building Optimization Link building is the process that will increase your PR and SERP although PR usually gets updated much later Optimization is just a process to utilize the back links and PR that you acquire to rank well in SE and get better SERP. Put a scenario. PR equals zero (assuming its just being updated according to its inbound links). That site will surely get no/negligible SERP for any of its keyword.
Exactly, for someone not wanting to sell links PR doesn't really seem all that important to me. All I concentrate on is my SERPs for targeted keywords + traffic. These 2 things seem much more important for me - I feel like webmasters overemphasize the importance of PR.
PR is just something that people look at to determine some extra value on the site. It has really next to nothing to do with SEO so it should have nothing to do with your traffic.
PR is unimportant. You don't need it to rank well, you don't need it to get traffic. Good content people are interested in will do that for you. PR is for webmasters to spend their time obsessing over and for people to use as a way of buying/selling links, i.e. pointless.
Hmm, they do have a point. My buddy gets 3 unique hits a day with tons of pages and has a PR3 and I have a site with PR0 getting 700 hits a day.
