Is PR solely based on number of backlinks?

I have read somewhere that Google PR is solely based on the number of backlinks that your website has.

Is that true??

Personally I think that guy that used to be the Dunken Doughnuts guy stays up all night and decides what your PR will be. If he's grumpy, your are SOL.

Can't say exactly but, it heavily depends on the number and the quality of backlinks.

 

As of now....depends on..
1. number of backlinks...
2. page rank of the page from which backlink is coming..
3. number of links on the page from which the back link is coming..

 

I read through that article. This is some serious maths!!!

 

You can have one link give you a PR 6, or even 1,000 links give you a PR 5 or less.
