I submitted a website for a client to several free directories, all with PR 0 or 1. His site has been accepted into about 5 so far. I also got his site listed in a PR 5 directory. I thought the PR 5 would be a huge help to his ranking but after maybe 3 months the PR 5 listing does not come up in Google searches of his URL. The PR 0 and 1 listings do. His link is still in the PR 5 directory. I always write different text for each link I submit. Why is it that Google seems to be ignoring a PR 5 directory? Is the importance of PR exaggerated?
Pr is important in some extents but it doesnt really matter all the time.. But Backlinks from sites is always helpfull so from pr0 sites you have submited and approved that would help you for sure but in SEO each and every backlink does matter so if high pr mean high quality backlinks faster and Better result thats it
It seems that Google's algorithms have changed quite a bit. In terms of traffic, any link may be helpful but I doubt you'll get incrementally much more traffic from directories that get very little traffic. In terms of your SERP, a link from an authority site (e.g. PR4 and above) is probably useful.
The PR 5 is listed in Yahoo, so it wasn't a complete waste of time thankfully. I have to say I don't focus as much on PR as I used to. But I see so many people saying don't bother with any site PR 4 or below. That doesn't seem to be very good advice.
pr is not so much important, if your site pr is 4 then it is recommended that submit your site in the more 1 pr directories.
it is important. i won't submit a site to a directory that don't have high PR. and i guess everyone knew this
no but google will check all your links if your links comes from high pr google might consider as a spam, because to increase your pr there is one format , in that you have to submit your site in low pr also.
The PR of a directory's home page does not help increase the PR of your own website. When a directory has a high PR, it simply means that it's a popular directory ~ that's it. What matters is the PR of the PAGE that you website is listed on within the directory - in which most cases the internal directory pages have a PR of 0. If your link is placed on a directory page (or any page for that matter) that has high PR and is a clean link (no "nofolow" attribute) the link will then pass PR to your website. So many people out there think that the home page PR of a directory matters when in reality, it doesn't (unless your link is being placed on the home page itself).
PR is really important in all field of SEO whether it is directory, article directory or blog comments. But most important thing is the PR of the page where your link will locate.
Yes if you submit to high Pr directories and if you get approved in these directories you will definitely get benefits... but if your sate has low pr then my advise to start submission from low pr directories...
Ah, from the land of dunces comes another one who sees the light. May the mighty and unholy one grant you many serps and page 1 for your prime keywords.
What I can say is that the only thing which matters at the end of day is Average PR of your backlinks. Many people here said that high PR backlinks are good and few said PR really doesn't matter. But you must take care of your overall average of PR from all backlinks. For eg. if you have 5 backlinks from high PR sites, there is really no harm in getting 10 backlinks from low PR sites as well, but on the other hand if you have 0 backlink from high PR sites, it would not be a good idea to have links from low PR sites.
Dont just look at homepage PR.. Its better to study the QUALITY of a directory before submitting your url.. Look inner pages, content, strength etc.
