Dont you think the PR (Page Rank technology) is much overhyped.?.. especially in these days when the update is going on... PR is being talked about everywhere as if it is the only factor in SE rankings..
well.. as per my experience.. the PR can't determine the revenue or traffic the site is getting.. and the converse is also true..
People are doing everything to build links and more links... ...yes that certainly helps.. but not as that much as it has been heard or said...
One thing that PR can get you or your site is "respect" in the webosphere... (yes.. that we all know..:) ) ..
But that respect is certainly more for a site with good content.. even without PR..
Thats just my point of view.. whats yours?

PR doesn't mean much. For one it is only updated quarterly. I am honestly amazed at how much people obsess about pr in this day and age. Just build sites and worry about customers and money.

I think it is. It's hard to trade and sell links because people seem to care so much about PR because they may want to increase their PR and make money for their PR increase.

Some people say PR determines the quality of your site, but I don't think that's true. I have had pages that were empty and not even linked to gain PR. Some people say to increase PR, you need to build back links. Well I've had pages with 0 backlinks gain PR, and have had pages that I build back links to and it got no PR gain.

Maybe at first PR meant something, but I didn't know what it was then, so I don't know.

No it is not! Unlike many other forum, this is a webmaster forum so you can always expect discussions about Page Rank.

same here. Traffic in the thousands from Google and in the low hundreds from Yahoo and MSN combined. If PR mattered at all in the future, I'd still look at Google's PR first.

Google's aim is to make people think PR means nothing. I think.

    Yeah,

I think Pagerank is still a little bit important.

But I have to wonder, I am getting more traffic now than before, and I used to be Pagerank 4 for the first 9 months and now I am Pagerank 3 on the front page and zero on the rest and I am getting 2500 visitors a month from 500 a month earlier.

Yes IMHO. Sometimes people dont realise that PR is just one more factor not just the only way to determine a domains worth.

It's not overhyped at all. I mean. The higher the PR the more often and the more deep your site is crawled. To have a large site crawled completely and often is worth gold IMO.

YES!!! PR is very much overhyped! What's far better are real links back to your site which create real visitors!

God yes, I've noticed more talk about PR on here than any other forum too. It really doesn't warrant the thousands of threads that are here.
