We often see PR 0 websites/pages ranking better than those having a PR 3-4 ... So in my opinion, PR is over-rated. What is your take?
Google told to have more than 200 ranking factors. Overall popularity is only one or several of them. Relevancy has a few in common with the PageRank.
PageRank is only a calculation of your backlink profile but Google uses over 200 rankings signals in it's algo, so chasing PR is not going to get you anywhere. Just try to get your links on as many different good quality domains as possible and preferably within content and don't get too caught up with their PageRank.
LOL! I don't care for the PR but here on the digital point forum, everyone seems to be talking about the PR.
Overrated is to less of an afirmation Is over over over overrated ... I never cared about PR ... and never check my sites PR ....
Do you think back links within content are bettter than a blog roll back link? Most of my blog roll back links come up higher with Yahoo Explorer.
If you chase PR, it's like a dog chasing its tail. Gonna get nowhere. I outrank sites with much higher PR. Why? Stronger links, more relevant links, more authority and trust to my sites.
people only care about PR because the higher the PR the more money idiots who drool over PR will spend on a link. I too have seen PR0 sites rank higher and above PR4 and PR5 sites. PR is irrelevant and usless (unless you sell links which is against google TOS anyways)
If you would have had asked me the same question around 2 years back, I would have said NO without even thinking but today YES it is def. over-rated!
