Mel, maybe for obscure search terms yes but I don't see that happen for competitive ones.

Is the case you quote of a PR4 outranking a PR9 in SERPS, a home page vs a home page?

The hypothesis I put forward at the beginning of this thread is of a low PR INTERNAL page of a high PR SITE because that was the type of thing I have been noticing when I have been doing some analysis using the McDar tool.

I wasn't quoting home page vs home page.

As I said at the beginning, it seems that low PR INTERNAL pages get a boost from the level of PR of the SITE

The No1 is PR4 and has 103 Google backlinks, and 215 Yahoo backlinks, plus is No1 for ALLINANCHOR for "internet submissions". So a lot of those backlinks must have anchor text of "internet submissions".

ADDME has lots of backlinks but does not rank at all for ALLINANCHOR for "internet submissions". So none, or very few, of those backlinks have anchor text of "internet submissions".

I am not saying that PR is the most important factor, just that I have noticed a trend that leads me to believe that there is 2 elements to it:-

    1. page PR
    2. site PR

and that both have an effect on Google's algorithim

along with lots of other factors which definitely include "anchor text backlinks".

My intention was just to make others on the forum aware of a factor I had noticed, not to state that it was the be all and end all of SEO.

    Hello Jenny.
    >the No.1 for which got there with PR0 and 1 backlink.
This search in Google gives "Results 1 - 10 of about 5,040"
    @internetsubmissions.com -site:internetsubmissions.com
(Not all of them are links, some are just the text "internetsubmissions.com.")

The toolbar PR, which hasn't been updated since June, is zero. The actual PR, which only Google knows, is more.

I do agree wholeheartedly that PR isn't as important as it used to be.

It should be clear that the Google page is an internal page since the PR of Googles home page is PR10. And yes the other page was internal too.
