Some people say DONT LOOK AT PR it has nothing to do with your website.... But I would say PR is important... It shows the importance of your website... and as your PR increases your position in SERPs also increases gradually..... But I think PR 0 to PR 3 is almost equal..... But if you get a PR 4 or more then it has some value.....
i don't agree with your point PR and SERPs is not directly proportionate ... can you give some example to support your point ?
PR is a means to an end - it is a measure - it is an indicator. You can't bank PR. You can't eat PR. But if you have good PR and you can see it growing it is a measure of your success. It is then up to you to turn this PR into $$ by making sure your site's content is relevant for keywords you have researched and selected as right for you. So stop trying to put PR in a corner. It is not an end outcome or a solo effort. It is a part of a journey. Accept it for what it is. Don't belittle it and don't grandstand it. Honour it in it's place.

Depends on the site - PR is very important for directories for example. G have undermined PR themselves by penalising sites that they suspect of selling links etc. It's certainly not as important as it once was.
I think that PR is not as important as it used to be. Every day I see many low PR sites which outrank high PR sites.
PR is just a number / worthless to me ...... TRAFFIC and RANKINGS that's all that counts .... Anyway only noobs and people that lack of information well they belive that crap .... PR is important yada yada yada ...
For well established web-site the SERP is sort of proportional to number and quality of backlinks. Number and quality of backlinks define webpage PR. So PR define the quality of your backlinks and at the end your SERP which is in fact your traffic. This is correct for cases without manual PR lowering from G.
As many people say, PR is not important and the real thing that matters is good search results ranking. Anyway, I feel good to see a greener PR bar for my sites
PR really is not important at all, what is important is to have the best authority result in your keyword niche
Yes, I agree. It's proportional (give or take depending on PR of originating site, how many times that doled out PR is split up, and type of site, among many other things known only to those that sit atop the lofty Google empire) to the number of links on a logarithmic scale. If you take a cross section of sites with different ranks and do an logarithmic plot (PR vs. backlinks), you will see a very high correlation. Excel does a fine job of this, by the way.
PR doesn't mean high traffic.. i don't need this.. my target is high ranking to bring more traffic! Cheers!
Hi It is very important and it is like certification given by google , and i also agree with manan121. Thanks
From a personal standpoint, PR is not important because I understand that it doesn't affect rankings or traffic, but from a business perspective, when our clients see that we have a PR7 site, they get very excited - it's a huge selling point. Business people with little understanding of SEO like PR and Alexa ranking because they are able to get some figures to quantify and target. Peter
