I have posted relevant responses to articles on about.com which has a PR of 8. Is this something google favors?
If you have posted a link to your site, check whether there is a rel = nofollow added to it. Otherwise it is good. Also what matters is the PR of the page where your links appears, not the PR of the homepage of about.com
There is a nofollow... What are some good forum or sites to add relevant comments without nofollow tag?
Exactly there is nofollow, but for not all the URL's. Check out this url: http://marketing.about.com/cs/advertising/a/pricingstrtgy.htm from author bio, copy the link http://www.emergemarketing.com/ than open source page, find with this link, you will find an anchor containing Emerge Marketing , ok. Than see there is no any nofollow used in between the anchor tag. <a href="http://www.emergemarketing.com/" onclick="zT(this, '1/XJ')"> The script ID is zT(this, '1/XJ') You will not find this unique script id at other place containing nofollow, There may be nofollow used for other URL's, but not for Author Bio, Got it. The page is having 4 PR so i would become direct link to the author website. Thanks.
Even if it has no follow link, inclusion in About.com is a big thing. The traffic is enormous and that counts to your brand. If your article clicks, you are getting traffic beyond imagination.
They are nofollow for what I've seen but it still good because bot will crawl and found your link be included on that page at least. Which can boost some trust weight in my opinion.
