I agree that it's not a sport, it's a game. I don;t think it has the characteristics to be classed as a sport, but they do try to sell it as a sport on TV
Is Poker a sport...Well I live in Las Vegas..so I might be a little biased, but I'd have to say yes...think about it..its shown on ESPN now, there are chamionships and competitions all the time for trophies and prize money, plus you need to use your mind and physical abilities to out play and out last your opponent. Need I say anything more..ive just listed everything required for something to be a sport.
I think poker is a sport because it involves a competition with others and there is an ultimate winner.
Poker is not a sport. A lot of people think it is because its popular and its competitive but its not. If poker is a sport then the we would have to call everything a sport. Should knitting competitions be considered sports? How about beauty pageants? People compete heavily for that? Maybe a player trying to hook up with as many chicks as possible to be the coolest guy. Or in my case, fish tanks. People compete on who can have to best aquarium carefully choosing african cichlids to co-exist without fighting. These are not sports. In order for it to be a sport it has to involve physically challanging compitition. Not just compitition. Job? lol, if you consider playing the lottery a job!
I enjoy how people make comments like this clearly not knowing how many people make a living off something. As i've said before, millions of people playing professionally aren't professionally lucky
