Hi all, Can any one suggest me that is placing a link our website either in body of thread or post or in signature for SEO purposes is unethical or not. Because forum should be used for sharing ideas not for promoting website. Can any one suggest me better about this issue.
If your just posting rubbish / unrelated spam then yes its unethical and point less. If however you are contributing to the forum and the links your providing are of use , then its perfectly fine
I run a forum and have no problem with people joining to promote their site for SEO purposes, as long as they keep it in their sig and do it discreetly. And, as long as they actually contribute to my game, making quality posts and integrating with the community. In that case it's a win-win. They get their site a better SEO score and I gain a valued and well liked member on my board. I don't see what there is to complain about with that.
Every forum has its own rules and regulations and one should be wise to follow them... to bring in uniformity. Most of the forums allow placing links in their signature spaces as it gives the members the opportunity to show case their efforts while contributing to the cause of the forum. As regards placing links within the thread/post itself, I strongly oppose the self promotion as the post content should be created with the sole purpose of interaction and sharing of good information! Regards, RightMan
If it is unethical then most people commenting on forums are very bad people Seriously as people have mentioned, as long as your comment/post content is relevant and useful, you are doing nothing wrong.
Most people join forums for the purpose of getting links to their websites. To be honest, when you answer a certain question, you are likely to use just a couple of sentences. The readers can click on the links to your websites to read more. I dont see any harm in that.
hi mate, i think it`ss the same, i also saw people who are hidding links behinds smile and icons on forums....
I think everyone pretty much said it. As long as your posts are informative and helpful to the community then it's perfectly fine. Having a signature is like telling my friends that I own this business and I sell these things, but not asking them to buy anything. It's different when you're bugging them to buy things from you all the time.
IMO, signature links are definitely Ok - providing you don't just make spammy "great post" comments just to get the link. Links within threads are fine if they are relevant tot he question and link to useful info.
No-not at all unethical. If you're providing a real response that is. Simply saying "Thanks" or "Great Post" to me is blatant spam and it's annoying to see the value of the other sig's in the thread devalued by people who probably didn't even read the thread before posting.
Hi all, thanks you for sharing valuable information about placing links in forum's post and signature. Now can any one suggest me please that- does google give importance of signature links and we get SEO benefits through it in terms of Keywords ranking and page rank?
Signature is ok but in posts and threads is not ok, it might be called as spamming because threads and to discuss while signatures are to represent yourself or whatever you are representing.
If your comment or suggestion is bias and try to promote your links than yes, otherwise I don't think so.
Hi all, Thanks a lot for your valuable information regarding placing link in signature. Now suggest me please that if we place a link of a finance site in SEO forum's signature then - does this link will be irrelevant and meaning less according to SEO points of view. ? According to me we should place relevant link in signature. I saw in many SEO forum that people place a variety of link in signature. I think non SEO related link in SEO fourm's signature is useless. Kindly share you view about this issue.
If you are actually contributing positively to the forum and you are not violating any of the forum's rules, there's no problem. That's what they are there for after all! Just use common sense and you'll be fine. Simon
