Is phpBB bad for SEO ?!

    hello everyone,

    I'm willing to use phpbb for my new forum, and i was wondering if it is bad for seo ( search engine optimization ) ?!

    because i used it once like 2 years ago and the only page that was indexed at google is the main page only ...

    No not at all. When I ran my phpBB forum, I did only basic SEO and had thousands of the forum indexed.

    Not really. You can always beef it up anyways using MODs and such. Here's an example.

    These guys have a modified version of phpBB that is more SEO-friendly.

    Hi -Aw- ...First of all thank you so much for such a nice and informative forum site..but one thing i would like to ask you is this that how can we get registered on it..because i tried it with my gmail account but it says hotmail/gmail and yahoo accounts cannot be approved..how can we get registered on it ..please guide

    Use a non-Hotmail, Gmail, or Yahoo! Mail email address. Bad/useless idea, but it's their call.

    I m using mybb forum getting good traffic from google without any SEO effort, only from simple posts and daily being increase.
    I can say its good for SEO.

    i dont know how bad it is for seo but i have very bad experience with phpbb. i had once implemented this forum and it is easily hacked resulting me millions of spam posts on forum

    phpBB is not bad for search engine optimization at all. Just use the certain mods that help you with SEO and you should be set. From my experience with phpBB, I'd say the forum software is actually really SEO-friendly as I got thousands of pages indexed with very, very basic SEO work done.

    Yes versus MyBB is bad in seo. But you can edit and work on it, it's not a bad forum software.

    I think there was some problem with it so it happened like that. But there is not effect from phpbb.

    As per my experiance the PHPBB is not bad but actually it is very good software for SEO i have never seen such a trafic on my site before when i was not using Phpbb.

    Not at all. I think the best change your can do for SEO, is to change the overall_header.html
    Default is: Site name - Page name
    Should be: Page name - Site name
