As per society that may be true however for the individual it is their own responsibility to maintain Peace "under any circumstance" as the Goal - or become (forever) lost. - and most often at an early age they lose the path and the unjust society only contributes to the condition of Turmoil.

Peace and Violence can be interchangeable, it is the persuasion that matters.

Point well taken, but when you are hungry and have low self esteem due to poverty, having a sense of peace is difficult to maintain.

There will never be true world peace. And it's not just from fighting over resources. Even if everyone had their fill, that would only solve a portion of the problem. There's also religious differences and people finding some reason to hate others. If it's not racial or sexual (male vs. female), it's cultural or people not liking short people, or fat people, or whatever. Then there's also just people disagreeing over something or being wronged in some way and then there's fighting again. We are advanced animals, but we're still animals, with many of their ways, but with the added benefit of the ability to think things through and plan on how we're going to attack someone or get revenge. That doesn't mean that we can't overcome a great deal of that or that we don't have many upsides and commit great acts of peace and humility every day. It just means, that true world peace down to a T is impossible.

And not all conspiracy theories are contrived by some cook in a basement. Some are actually based on fact.

It is with sadness and a feeling of total resignation that I have to state that I agree with your post. There really is no hope for peace if one is realistic. We are doomed to quarrel and slaughter each other until the end of time.

So long as these kind of people exist, there will be no peace:

I believe there will certainly be peace, one day, as truth and transparency becomes more and more "normal". If you take the world from year dot it gets nicer every single day (bar just a few). No longer do we simply accept things that we once did. 200 years ago you would be hung for stealing bread but today that's reserved for the worst of the worst. Life is definately seen as important in more and more of our minds and individually we are all striving for a better world. Everyday is a new experiment that provides us with lessons on what we did wrong. We see how we stuffed up and do our best to fix it.

It would be interesting to see what percentage of the world's population is in turmoil now compared to say 400 years ago. If we've grown the population 400x yet the violence has only grown 10x then that should show we are heading the right way.

You did make an interesting point.Namely that we have evolved somewhat from the barbarous practices of our not too distant past.If the idea is that we will eventually evolve to a state of peace, then kindly strap me into a time machine and send me into the future.:)

How can peace ever be? Look at us as a species.Take us at our beginnings, preschool children haven't been taught how to be sophisticated fabricators as adults have.We on the other hand learn to hide our true feelings for fear of being considered socially inept. But preschoolers are human beings in our natural raw state. They will beat the crap out of each other fighting over a plastic sandpail.Look at grade and high school children. Not yet as sophisticated as adults. The bullying and mocking that goes on can lead to kids committing suicide. We always convince ourselves the other side is as wrong as we are right.Add to that racism, religious intolerance and peace seems elusive at best.
Voltaire wrote,"A man can hide the evil that in his heart by doing good deeds".I wish it was as cut and dry as that,if it was maybe there would be hope for us.

The world can never be at peace. I'm talking about inner peace that comes within ourselves. If you'r satisfied in this life, you'r at peace.

A very nice piece of philosophy and well put.I suppose in the final analysis that is probably all we can aspire for.Inner peace.......if that is indeed the case then my mission in life is logical.I believe that life ought to be about the pursuit of happiness, anything else ought to be secondary.
