Is Paypal the best way to go for receiving payments on your website? I think it's the only one that doesn't require a merchant account, am I right?

Paypal is widely accepted and mostly used gateway so we have no other option than the using it.

Eventhough paypal is good, its not available in all geo locations and got restrictions in withdrawals in some places. Paypal can be used along with other good services like 2checkout or clickbank or your own merchant account if you got a business license.

Paypal has a very wide reach and so it offers one an instant facility to be able to begin receiving/sending payments on the internet, without much ado! :)

It's not the best, but you must have it to accept payment in your website.
