if u need ur customer to pay via credit card, u should upgrade ur acc, bcoz personal acc had a limitation to that method.if not, just go on with that acc level

depends on the amount of money/transactions you are going to be making...

and if you have an actual (as in registered) business...it would be safer for you to go ahead and upgrade...

plus (i need to check into it still)...i think you can have a business and a personal account...(which i need to do...lol...this business account for personal stuff I'm doing too is quite bad/annoying)...

Well you can always open two paypal accounts.

Either one of them can be a premier/business account and the second account can be a Personal account.

    Hope this helps.

The Personal Account is actually create for mainly spending purposes and not so much for receiving payments and thus it has several restrictions such as the amount of incoming money you can receive each month and also the options you can use, ie the personal account does not allow you to accept donations and have restricted usage in the Buy Now and eBay sales options. The Personal Account can only accept up to 5 credit card transactions a year.

The Premier and Business Accounts are made if you do more than a couple of sales a year. These accounts do not have any restriction.

Some of us do not sell and receive payments through Paypal and does maintain a zero balance. As such, when we purchase anything, it will be funded directly from our credit cards and if you do not use a Premier/Business account, you may be losing out on a number of potential sales.

Like the rest said, you can have 2 paypal accounts, one personal and one business/premier account. Use the Premier account to receive payments and the Personal account for your personal purchases and you do fine.

The few percentage in service fees is what makes Paypal survive and thus open up a whole new market for you. If you are worried about the few dollars then just add that into the cost of your service or product.

I mean if you feel uneasy for paying a few dollars to paypal for using their service and giving you the opportunity for receiving payments from your customers, would your customers feels uneasy paying you for your services or product ? Compare how much percentage are you making for the sale compared to what you are paying Paypal ?

Yes, they will. Personal accounts can not accept payments from credit cards.

Well they can bro but subject to a maximum of 5 per year after which you will be prompted to upgrade.
Also the charge for accepting these 5 payments is more than what you are charged for accepting a payment via CC in a premier or business account.

If you use the normal funds transfer method, ie paypal balance to paypal balance then I believe the limit for a personal account is about $500/mth. I believe they will get suspicious if there is a lot of incoming funds activities.

I believe that once you reach a certain number of incoming credit card transactions, it will prompt you to upgrade to a Premier account.

Business accounts should only be open if you have a registered business in your country and a bank account under your business name or else you cannot withdraw the funds. A Premier account has all the core benefits of the business account without that requirement.

The fees should be about 2.9% + $0.30. So if you receive $1 in payment, you should receive $0.67 from it after the fees. If you receive $10 in payment, the net amount will be $9.41

If you receive a lot from your Personal Account, your account can be limited and if they find something suspicious, the funds are subject to reversal.

Dont get yourself in trouble, use two accounts: Personal and Premier or Business.
