Is Pagerank really stored by google as an integer?

I have a question: PageRank always shows as a discrete number, a small integer from 0 to 10 basically. I think there is a difference between 0 and - but leaving that aside...

Does anyone know if this is likely to be an approximation, a rounding down or up? For example, if you needed just one more good inbound link in google's eyes for a page to be PR4 rather than PR3, is the effect of the PR the same as if you just crept over the line from PR2 to PR3? Or does google actually store page rank more as a continuous function internally. What do people think?

Leave this silly ways to promote a website.
My blog is pr3 no linkbuilding, no social site promotion, no comments effort BUT contains good content AND 550,000 visits per month.

The blog's Alexa rank is ONLY 60k while many low traffic blogs are on 5k-10k.

Page rank is a very large logarithmic scale. Think that t has to holds scale for all indexed pages.
