Is page views accurate to judge real visitors?

    Just like it says.
I understand that uniques can be hundreds of different IP addresses on one "Line", so, are the page view stats showing actual visitors, or just page loads?

I know my visitors are not reading 20 pages each.
    A little insight?
    Thanks

Generally page views are just that -- any time the page was viewed or loaded. It is definitely not a good judge of unique visitors.

According to my stats, my unique visitors are viewing 20 pages each, and I know that is not right.
So I have been trying to figure out if there is something else I need to consider, like if they enter the site from an old post that shows up on serp's or a page from a month ago, is that a page view, rather than a unique because they didn't come in the "front door"?
