Is outsourcing backlinks to India a good idea?

Im about to outsource 700 PR3+ to Indian freelancers on Freelancer.com.

My main concern is that because my site is something that I have already spent a lot of time and money on and I wouldn't want to jeopardize its long term prospects in the search engines by outsourcing 700 cheap backlinks to India to get an immediate boost in the rankings.

Im just wondering how safe it is to outsource these types of linkbuilding projects to India? They seem to have great feedback in their Freelancer profiles from previous projects, and I do have strict rules regarding whitehat only etc... however the sites they add backlinks to are very spammy and contain nothing but scaped content from othersites + the clients backlinks... though they admittedly do have a decent PR.

So my 700 backlinks would basically end up on sites like this:

    http://businessforms4less.com/

I would think with all the recent Google algorithim changes and such, Google could easily detect this type of link buying and nullify any benefit they provide....

So my question is, do you think this type of linkbuilding would eventually backfire on my rankings?

    Quick Answer: No

It's not a good idea, outsourcing or paying for links is by definition blackhat. If google picks up on this the big panda will slap you.

Nowadays getting a PR3 link from a quality site is not a easy thing. To get 700 PR3+ is definitely going to be low quality links and may be possible with irrelevant websites.

Thanks, though I should point out that they wont be paid if they are on irrelevant sites. Its project work on freelancer, the cash goes in to escrow until I check all the back links are valid per my rules (whitehat, dofollow, relevant etc...)... The other thing is, most of these freelancers have dozens of excellent feedback in their profiles from previous clients. 700 backlinks would give me a boost even if they are low quality i think (my keywords are that competitive) ... but thats irrelevant because my main question is related to whether or not I will eventually be significantly penalized in the search engines in the long term?

Outsource work to those that speak your native language. Especially with the Panda update, all those spelling errors can hurt your site instead of helping. Anyway, cheap labor usually results in poor results.

As long as you check that the ones that are taking the job do have a good reputation, and they do respect your guidelines, can be ok for you ;) But dont pay in advance and don't accept delays with very usual explanations: I had no internet connection, no power, my son was seak, trust me all these excises are very popular among indians and I did heard them so many times....

I should of emphasized early on that I am not worried if the project is ineffective (as it costs little money anyway) .. My only concern is that having 700 backlinks placed on spammy sites filled with duplicate content will actually result in being penalized and downgraded in the rankings from where I am already. Is this possible?

There it is likely that google will have identified sites that are filled with irrelevant backlinks and ignore them. Therefore you may not get penalized, or you may be seen as guilty by association and find it does hurt your rankings. As someone else said earlier, technically its black hat SEO.

yeah it's a good idea, just make sure the people you are using are good. Check their reviews and what others have had to say about them in terms of results etc.

If the backlinks are built on legit sites that do not share the same class C IP range then you're golden. If your link is being placed on spammer sites then you will eventually get hurt.

What about the link I posted in my first message? Would you classify that as a spammer site?

I included that link as an example because most of the link sites will be similar to that.

Stay away from the Indian "experts"
Outsourcing is good but not outsourcing for cheap to amateurs ...

I heard from many experienced people that creating back links in bulk is not a good idea but if you are paying somebody to build the links one by one it won't be bad I think.

As long as you understand the strategies and tactics being used, it really doesn't matter who builds your links. The key is to ask lots of questions and stay updated with the link building process. Unfortunately, sometimes the langauge barrier can make this difficult when dealing with Indian companies. And most of the time they're using outdated or black-hat tactics to build links.

Personally, I hire people "in-house" to build links and pay on an hourly basis. I have full control over their methods and techniques, which ensures I always know what's going on and I can easily change tactics when required. There's also less likely to be surprises due to penalties or dropped SE positions...

unless you're paying at least $800/month it is going to be grey or blackhat seo.

But cheap, spammmy links can be helpful if you know how to use them and launder them properly

The number itself should tip you off. 700 backlinks? How do they propose to do that and over what period of time? It is no longer about the number these days anyway, it is all about the quality and the relevance of your links.
