Is optimizing 1 page for 3 terms better that 3 pages for 3 terms?

I've always designed my landing page for 3 terms, and then had individual articles for each additional term. They the pages to the articles are accessable at the bottom of each of my pages. Its a shared navagational section.

I always build links to my main page, which is optimized for the 3 best terms.

But sometimes a subpage wil outrank the main page.

But its when the subpage's topic overlaps with the main pages keywords.

Yes - it is stupid of me to create a subpage that overlaps with the main page.

But my question is this --

Should I have just made a page for every keyword, instead of three on the main landing page?

Depends on if the three words are related or not.

Google does everything by the PAGE not the site. So keep that in mind as you brainstorm any on page optimization scenario.

And if you are looking for Organic SEO results, it's always about the incoming links to that page.

optimize just for 1 term - but include other keywords too but make sure that the keyword density is atleast 3 to 4 % for that keyword you are targeting .

I have got individual pages ranked for 2 'moderate competitive' phrases, but I have to still try '3' phrases. If they are related keywords, it's easier to rank one page / site for multiple keywords.

You should group your keywords as primary and secondary.

The index page should be optimized for one main keyword and its variations. For the secondary keywords you can create individual pages focusing on those keywords. Naturally since they are all related keywords you might see some of the internal pages outranking your main page. That shouldn't be a problem if you have a proper user friendly navigation.

I usually use one keyword but I have used more than one and it's worked well too. I think the key is that they have to be tightly focused keywords.

Yes you can optimize three related keywords in a page, however it is not recommended .
It is better to optimize one keyword in a page .
