I have interlinked my pages, because they are topic related, but I was wondering if this would be OK for Google, or if, the other way round, this will have a negative impact on the rankings of all the pages? Thanks!
You should be o.k. as long as the pages are related. I would avoid footer links to your other sites and instead put the link somewhere it will actually be clicked. I would also avoid site wide links. Only link from a few pages of each site where the content is related. If your visitors find the links useful you'll be o.k. with the search engines.
Interlinking pages of the same site is fine. Interlinking various domains can be risky, especially since you admittedly are doing it to improve your ranks. Matt Cutts from Google has said it was ok to interlink sites if they are related. Interlinking more then 10 was pushing it though. But he commented on that a couple years back. Things could have changed by now.
Time bomb waiting to get penalized. Interlinking in a site is fine. Between sites is something to totally avoid.
I agree that you shouldn't cross linking between your websites too much. In the past I did this for my websites, but I decided the risk wasn't worth it. Interlinking your pages within 1 website is no problem and is highly recommended.
If your sites are related, there is no issue with linking between them. Why would there be? It makes total sense for your dog training site to link to your dog breed site, or for your dog breed site to link to your pitbull site. Build legitimate, non-spam, non-junk sites, and you will be ok. It's when you start building and linking with auto-generated junk sites, or when you ONLY link between your own sites that issues arise. Those things aren't natural. Keep it natural, and you'll be fine.
Interlinking topic-related pages within your site is a good thing. And there's a way to do it that's better than footer links. And that is by adding in-text links right within the very paragraphs of the text. I recently went through my entire website and added in-text links from each page to other related pages in my website. The results have been very positive. After giving the search engines a couple of weeks to get all those updated pages crawled, I'm seeing a big increase in traffic. Definitely add contextually-related hyperlinks from within the text on pages in your website to other pages in your website. Of course it's still OK to have some footer links also to main pages on your site.
Well, I see opinions are divided...for me in the worst of the cases what G should do is not count the links from one website to another for google ranks, but G should not penalize it or banned if they are related...but of course, what G should do could be very different from what G actually does...so I think the solution will be middle ground: interlink but not that much...what do you think?
Interlinking in the same domain is OK. But it is suggested that you should have a good interlinking that will benefit your site users.
Good, contextual interlinking between pages within your site is pretty much essential for good rankings.
Interlinking is actually good for your site and won't bring any harm. By all means, if you find keywords that can relate to other pages on your site, they you should use them.
do you mean websites linked together, or just the pages inside of them? i have alot of my pages inside my website linked to each other.
No negative effects on your pages. Interlinking to related pages is a good way to improve the PR and also the Pages can rank better in search results.
It won't hurt your sites. When I start a new site I always link it from one of my other sites to get the spiders going through it. It always works and I have never been banned for it. It won't get your sites to number one but I don't believe it will hurt them either. To each his own.
I think it's important that you don't overdo it, then you should be fine. Just don't make it appear spammy and you'll be ok. I have seen many domains interlinked and they are dominating google, but I have also seen many domains getting penalized. It all depends on how much you do it.
