I'm still curious about this, I wonder if .net websites is like php when it comes to SEO? Especially in Google since .Net is owned by Microsoft.
.net for seo is fine! Not generally prefered and i would reccomend you to stick with .com or .org only! Tom Brite
Are you talking about the Microsoft software development technology .NET (as in VB.net, C#.net, ASPX, etc.)? or are you referring to the domain TLD .net (similar to .com, .org, .info, etc)? If you're referring to the Microsoft software development technology then it is perfectly fine from an SEO perspective as a development platform. A LOT of the canned controls don't necessarily generate SEO friendly HTML out of the box. But the platform itself can be used to generate SEO friendly HTML as you can do w/ any server-side scripting technology. As far as the .net domain TLD... It too is equally as SEO friendly as .com, .org, etc. Where non-.com TLDs frequently fall short is from a user perspective. Many users and webmasters don't see .net websites as legitimate sites. Many see them as sites that are created to piggyback on the popularity of the same domain name only with the .com TLD. So .net domains likely have a poorer click-thru-rates in the SERPs than they would have if they had the same domain only with a .com TLD. Also, .net domains likely have a harder time gaining "natural" links than do their .com counterparts.
Thanks Canonical I'll rep you for that. Now I'm wondering if there's a script that mask .aspx to make it .com?
