Is my site blocked, banned, sandboxed or otherwise penalized?

I saw some threads on this issue during the last couple of days. I am experiencing the same with one of my sites. Until last week when I last checked it ranked #1 for its domain name. If I search for the domain name today it is not in the index anymore. Only if I look for "domainname.com" then it shows up. Also SERPs for the keywords it was ranking well so far dropped and Google traffic went to almost 0.

I checked with webtools and Google Webmaster Tools and there are no bans or errors or any other issues stated. Also in Google Webmaster Tools it still says its #1 for the domain name.
Google last visited on October 6th.

I dont really think the site got banned but what is going on there? As I have never experienced that before I am wondering it this happens frequently and everything will be back to normal soon or if this requires some action.

if your site is new, you have a good chance for it to come back in a week or so. If it is an established site, you'll have to wait some months.
For example I'm waiting for 5 months and it is still down (google traffic).

    Yes, agree with Sphinks.
In addition, if you have linking to site that not relevant to your niche, try to remove and hope that the SERP will back to the previous.

Thank you for the link. Most of it is not true for my site. I still have my PR and the number of backlinks and indexed pages a basically havent changed.
Ill surely wait a few days. Yesterday I have noticed this issue for the first time. At this point I am just curious what is going on.

This did happen to me for a little while when my site was quite fresh

Right around when I was just starting to see a few organic referrals a day. I'd say as long as you are legit and clean you'll be back to where you were if not better within a few day. Google might just be googling.

if your site doesn't show up for domainname, most probabbly its penalized ... unless u have a domain name which is a popular keyword like "wallpapers"

Really? I am not sure because as said if I look up the entire url (www.domain.com or domain.com) it shows up in the index. Only when I am looking up domain alone it is not there anymore.

Also looking up site:www.domain.com shows there are loads of indexed pages. Furthermore wouldnt there be at least a hint in their webmaster tools that there is something wrong?
