Is my placement and use of color harming my ctr

My Ctr is very low on my blog, compared to my other sites. Am I using the wrong colors? I have sufficient traffic to be gaining more clicks. Also is my placement wrong? Should it be in the outside column? Any other suggested locations? Here's my site www.moneymakingstudent.co.uk

Not thing wrong with your color and replacement.
The skyscraper Ad looks good there.
Add one more Adsense unit the first article.

 

You may want to add an ad unit (mid-size) banner between the posts.

 

I agree with river. Your color is fine, but the placement probably won't see many clicks as it's a commonly used technique which lowers your ctr. Try rivers suggestion.
