We started this website with the intention of airing a live game show where our members that we logged into the show had a chance to become a contestant on that show while sitting at their computer. We also had about 17 original games made for the site that where more along the lines of the price is right theme then games like tetris and so forth. In the beginning i pretty much did everything myself, marketing, game production, website, and so forth. Now i did not build the site but had to oversee everything that was done. Site was finished and everything worked fine in December of 2007. At that time i started to market the site to potential sponsors and members using google and yahoo. The games that were available on the site to play all day again where more along the lines of the Price is right. Sponsors would be able to upload up to 100 of their products (pictures, description and price) and those items would randomly be selected and placed into the game they chose to sponsor. At that time we were asking them only to supply a prize in the form of a gift card (value $10 or more) for us to give out to the winners of the games. Now when our members would play these games sure they could sit there and guess but that was a long shot for them to win these pricing games. In order for them to have a real chance at winning they needed to click on that sponsors banner above the game ( opened new window) and search that sponsors site for the items in the games to find out the prices. If a player lost and wanted to play again they would more then likely get 10 new products so it made it hard for them to win. The Live show which again we were originally only asking for sponsors to supply prizes for and in turn they would get an average of a 10 minute spot on our live show where if they wanted they could select one of our pricing games and we would use their products in the game ( we also has some games of chance that they could sponsor as well) So basically my thought was we needed to show potential sponsors what we could offer them so i decided to go ahead with the live game show and support it myself. From March 2008- June 2008 we ran a total of 40 shows ( each show averaged 3 hours and 100-200 members) At this point having spent over 25k in prizes and costs for the site and streaming video i decided that this was not going in the direction i needed it to. I also realized that the live show was a huge burden on me as far as time to promote the show. I did have a few major sponsors interested but could not finalize any deals with them. So i guess what i am asking is this. Is the idea of my live show not realistic (potential profitable) or did i spread myself to thin? In December of 2008 i thought i would give it another try with a new website and a different approach. I am building the site myself ( using a script with some mods that i need) but before i go to far and spend money again i would like some feedback on the idea itself. my new site can be seen here http://www.iwonitlive.com You can see some of the old shows we ran at the bottom of the homepage. I am still working on the site but some of our old members have found it and already registered there. I also thought that instead of just being a game website that i would make it a game and community site if you take a look at it you will see what i mean. The old pricing games we had are not on this site yet but i think by watching the live show clips you will see what we were doing. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks in advance and i hope i have given enough information to get some feedback on this
