Guys i have bought a Home package plan from 1and1.com yesterday (about 11 hours ago).. they said i will recieve an email containing my account details within 24 hours( still 13 hours left though )..but i am worried about my credit card's safety..it expires in 2010 some month.. There was also a Small NOTE after checking out and i really dint understand what it meant : "1&1 will make a $6.00 authorization-only charge, which is then immediately reversed by your financial institution, to ensure the functionality of the credit card in our billing system. This transaction may show up on your credit card invoice" Do they mean they looted another 6$ from my credit card?? can i be assured that my credit card wont me misused by 1and1.com people?? how can i verify my credit card's safety?? Guys i just turned 18 so please dont mind my silly DOUBTS Edit/Delete Message
I supposed this is the first time you used your credit card. 1and1 is a trusted company so you should not have to worry about it. Authorization Charge is what merchants do to check if your credit card is real or not and if you have the money. They will be money locked for a while but would be reversed back to you within a few days and not more than 30 days. This is usually practiced by merchant who provide service first before getting payment. If you go to a hotel or a gas station, you may be charged for your credit card first so they can do an authorization charge and after you leave, they will do the actual charge.
